2014 College Football TV Schedule Week 6: Smorgasbord of great matchups

Four of the Power 5 conferences have matchups between ranked teams, including three in the SEC.

Ah, the cons of tailgating and attending the game, in person. Sure, you want to support Rutgers (or whichever team you root for if you're a visitor to On the Banks), but then you miss out on all of these huge, scintillating, season-defining games. This is where tailgate schmoozing comes in handy, as you'll definitely want to make friends with your neighbor who has the 50" flat-screen complete with satellite-TV capability.

The Pac-12 kicks off Thursday Night Football with Oregon hosting Arizona after last season's shellacking of the Ducks by RichRod's Wildcats. Two Hawaiian-bred quarterbacks will duel in Eugene, as Oregon's Marcus Mariota and Arizona's Anu Solomon showcase some of the most prolific spread offenses in the country.

On Friday, you have a primetime Big East ACC matchup between Louisville and Syracuse. Did we go back in time to 2005? Late night, you can catch BYU continue its push for the College Football Playoff as they kickoff against in-state rival Utah State.

Saturday is when the fun really begins. At this point in the season you should be on top of your TV-remote skills, and you'll need them to catch all the action. For the noon slot, all eyes will be on Starkville as Dak Prescott leads the undefeated Bulldogs against Kenny Hill and Texas A&M. At 3:30 PM ET, the buffet opens for business. The Stanford-Notre Dame rivalry is renewed as the Cardinals travel to South Bend. Elsewhere, the SEC continues its day of ranked matchups with Alabama and Ole Miss battling for the West division title. In the Big 12, Oklahoma looks to stamp their claim on a College Football Playoff berth in Fort Worth against the TCU Horned Frogs.

In primetime, the fun continues. The final SEC ranked game kicks off at 7 PM ET, with LSU and Auburn battling in an intra-division contest. And finally, the Big Ten has its day (night?), with Michigan State hosting Nebraska for ABC Saturday Night Football. God bless Saturday.
