Rutgers will be an elite football program.

Okay, so that title is a little misleading, but I need viewers. Is not easy being a hobo and getting access to a computer. If I wrote "Rutgers might be elite one day" you wouldn't bother reading. But I digress. Anyways, I have a very strong feeling that five years from now Rutgers could be an elite football team. How did I arrived at such a conclusion? Glad you asked. I was just seeing that Rutgers will play in NY in the Pinstripe Bowl (I actually think that is an excellent addition to the B1G bowl rotation), and I thought; "boy that's a kick in the balls to Rutger players. You mean they get to play a bowl in a place they could travel regularly?" But that also got me thinking. Rutger players can travel to NYC in just a 40 minute drive or so, depending on traffic. Then I got to thinking some more. Players could take a 2 hour drive and travel to Fire Island (a topless beach in Long Island NY) and I got to thinking some more. They could also travel to Atlantic City, Asbury Park and the Jersey Shores all within the day.

So then, what does this have to do with anything? Okay, Rutgers has very little football tradition and in the arm race for better and bigger facility they are lacking. BUT, Rutgers will ensure that the BTN gets on basic cable in NYC, and by the way they are the only school that can manage that (I have contested that Rutgers joining the B1G is the biggest move any conference could had pulled, Rutgers is more important to the B1G that even if Texas and ND both joined together). So the money is going to start arriving by the truckloads. IF and is a big if, but if Rutgers decides to invest that money from the BTN into their football program, and hire a great coach and upgrades their facilities. Just think, the sky is the limit for them. NJ already produces good football players, and NY has some talent. Now, you show them your facilities and this great coach. And you tell a recruit, you can be in range to travel to NYC, to the beach, to Atlantic City, to lakes, and all the concerts that take place. Hell even do some skiing if you want. Plus you can get a degree that is worth something, I am sure you are going to get some top recruits. Remember Miami was a dead end job until a coach saw its true potential. This is what you have here. Is a good thing that Rutgers AD is a Husker (Julie Herman) grad that knows the importance and impact a great football program can have on a school. You have been warned. Rutgers has it all laid it for it to be an elite program within five years.
