Earlier tonight, The Recruit Scoop reported that Rutgers received their first commitment of the 2015 class. A 6'6" 2015 wing out of North Carolina, Austin Burnette is not the prototypical recruit you'd expect to see coming to a Big Ten school. He is rated by ESPN as a 1 star recruit, and 24/7 rates him as a 2 star. Usually, this would set off alarm bells.
But Eddie Jordan is a different breed of college coach. He is one who has a keen eye and an NBA mind. Jordan knows what kind of players he wants to land, and it seems he got one today.
He doesn't recruit on rating, he recruits on what he sees. And Jordan--who is hot after Isaiah Briscoe--accepted a commitment from Burnette. So he must see that the kid is ready for the next level. Burnette could be about to blow up, just like DJ Foreman--who Jordan landed just before Kentucky got involved.
Jordan wants hybrid wings, that's very clear. He wants to run his NBA style Princeton offense. And that's who he's out to land.
He got a sleeper today.
In Eddie we trust.
