Rutgers football recruiting update for the week of 8/16

Committed Players

Kind of weird to see an Archbishop Wood preview mention Des Peoples but not Arch.

Uncommitted Players

Your doubly crazypants rumor of the week:

Hours later, MSG Varsity's Steve Levy reported Fuller could commit to Rutgers as early as this weekend as a safety, not a quarterback.

The first didn't happen, which is odd because Levy is usually reliable. The second is mind-numbering considering Fuller's offers at QB. Jeff Hafley should see his salary doubled if Fuller goes to Rutgers at any position. It'd be hard to Fuller to commit to RU considering that he was visiting UCLA. For what it's worth, when Fuller named his top 11, RU was first out of his mouth ahead of TCU.

Florida isn't optimistic on NJ DL Darius Hamilton.

NJ S D.J. Singleton is down to Rutgers and Wisconsin. He'd be the first Badger recruit out of North Jersey since Nate Nurse if he picked them.

'13 NJ WR Charlie Callinan wants to tour the Northeast.

'13 PA RB David Williams favors Pitt early.

RU offered '13 MD ATH Zach Bradshaw.

FL DE Patrick Jean plans to visit Rutgers.

According to the NCAA, coaches can talk to recruits on Facebook, but can't send text messages.

Bryan Osei can do what he wants, but David really should sit his younger brother down and explain that Villanova has no chance to join the Big East for football.

St. Joe's of Metuchen is starting varsity football, but for now it's not with a GMC schedule.

Congrats to Brian Dohn on his well-deserved promotion at Scout to Northeast Recruiting Analyst. Sam Hellman is moving up in the world, and is now Scarlet Report's publisher.

MA DB Armani Reeves committed to PSUalong with PA WR Eugene Lewis. FL DT Earl Moore committed to Miami. DC DB Ken Crawley committed to Tennessee.

Watchlist: This is a section of this site's weekly recruiting posts featuring links to players that Rutgers may or may not be showing interest in, but has not yet offered.
