- It's slightly dated now, but Dan from Jersey Sports radio interviewed Knight Vision broadcaster Danny Breslauer along with Keith Sargeant in the run up to the recent wrestling match against Lehigh. Sargeant talked a little hoops and football as well.
- The women's basketball team clinched a BET top four bid and double bye by hammering Seton Hall. Those late starts are becoming a theme. As the #20 RPI team entering last night, they really should have a higher seed than being barely secure in the bubble after beating WVU. No way would a power like Rutgers be left out with its resume even if they lost to WVU. Then again, perhaps Charlie Creme is taking into account the committee's propensity to hose RU on seeding every year. For those keeping score, 10 BE teams should make it in this year.
- A state panel ruled that the Rutgers Board of Governors violated the Open Public Meetings Act in September of 2008. The violation probably wasn't necessary considering the issues being discussed in that session proved to be largely blown out of proportion.
-
Joe Lefeged made it to the Combine on Sunday, and all the press wants to do is ask him about Eric LeGrand and Devin McCourty (for good reason). McCourty will be another Knight planning to work out in Piscataway during the offseason. Lefeged and the other defensive backs are finally scheduled to run drills today.
- How are the Jet fans out there feeling today about Jamaal Westerman outlasting Vernon Gholston? Would have happened long ago if not for Gholston's status as a top draft pick.
- VUHoops thinks Villanova is leaning towards upgrading its football program to the FBS level.
- A mgoblog commentator has an interesting diary on the effect of teams replacing their coordinators. Doesn't look that promising, but remember that any mean conceals many widely disparate outcomes.
- Anyone into advanced basketball stats that attempt to evaluate teams independent of tempo? The concept is predicated on the supposed "four factors", one of which being a team's free throw rate. How heavily should that factor be weighed?
- Rutgers magazine looks at ESPN producer and Rutgers alum Kory Kozak, who recently interviewed Eric LeGrand for the network.
- Rutgers is planning to evaluate Pres. McCormick based on more quantifiable criteria. While an interesting idea, it will be awfully difficult to single out any causal factors given the current tough economic climate. Stuart Nachbar has a good post trying to piece together what this evaluation might look like in practice.
- The Grease Trucks made the Ledger last week.
- Next fall Rutgers housing will allow opposite sex roommates in a very limited context.
- The plan for Xanadu at the Meadowlands is now...try to raise another billion and expand it. When the current setup doesn't have enough anchor tenants. Talk about doubling down.
