Rutgers football recruiting update for the week of 2/22

Uncommitted Players

Who is Rashaad Williams?

Rutgers just offered SPP athlete Brandon Napoleon.

"Coach (Greg) Schiano talked to my dad and my dad texted me over his number," Napoleon said. "I called him and that’s when he told me (about the offer). I was expecting it but I expected it later in the recruiting process. I didn’t think it would come so early."

He'll be at the basketball game tonight, and unfortunately favors UNC early.

NY DB Wayne Morgan has offers from the usual suspects + Alabama.

Who's recruiting NJ DB Elijah Shumate the hardest?

Shumate said Rutgers is recruiting him the hardest but he's not claiming any favorites right now.

247 Sports and Rivals have writeups on last weekend's linemen camp at Rutgers.

NJ DE/LB Kaiwan Lewis seems open early.

"Rutgers and Boston College are making strong pushes up here," Lewis said. "Michigan just jumped in, too. They just started recruiting me this week. Rutgers says come stay in-state and win a National Championship. They want everybody in Jersey. That’s what they try to sell you on, but at the same time it‘s a really good school."

PSU offered Rutgers legacy PA OL J.J. Denman. Haven't heard of PA LB Nyeem Wartman until this week... GT offered PA RB Drew Harris. PA DE Noah Spence leads a loaded 2012 class in PA. RU offered PA RB Greg Garmon (link has a few other notes).

NY DT Jarron Jones will visit in March.

MD ATH Cyrus Jones is adding new offers, as is MD LB Sam Lebbie.. MD WR Ian Thomas is interested in Stanford.

FL RB Dami Ayoola is claiming an offer. FL DB Deon Bush visited UF. RU offered FL RB Roshard Burney.

This probably isn't a good way for Cal to recruit, having burned Texas and Miami in the past, although it may be necessary in a state much bigger than New Jersey.

First we look at the Rivals/Scout/(some private collegiate recruiting service I cannot recall) data to try and obtain a dossier of the athletes we want based on our needs for this class.

Watchlist: This is a section of this site's weekly recruiting posts featuring links to players that Rutgers may or may not be showing interest in, but has not yet offered.

Eli Ankou, Stacey BedellCasey CochranDylan Dopson, Malcolm Lewis, Devin Mayo, Tevin Shaw, and Nate Smith.
