Rutgers football recruiting update for the week of 2/15

Uncommitted Players

Scott Stump has a must-read article on 2012 Shore Conference standouts like Ryan Brodie and Jazzmar Clax.

DB Wayne Morgan is the top player in NYC in 2012, and has Rutgers in his early top three. Awesome.

Though there is no firm leader at this time, Morgan said that the Scarlet Knights, Ducks and Tigers stand out to him among the programs that he’s currently looking at. He talked about each one.

Will Franklin ATH Kye Morgan stay close to home?

"Rutgers was nice. I liked Rutgers. I liked the coaches and the facilities."

What about Sayreville athlete Delon Stephenson be following his older brother to Piscataway?

"I would put Rutgers at the top," he admitted.

Current players, '11 signees were in the crowd for RU/Seton Hall on Saturday night. A few big '12 names were there too, like Edison/Bosco WR Leonte Carroo.

Old Tappan ATH Devin Fuller is piling up offers.

PA RB Desmon Peoples is showing interest in Rutgers. PSU offered PA WR Eugene Lewis. Meet PA DE Noah Spence.

RU has offered FL WR Brandon Snell. FL QB Gunnar Holcombe is another name. Don't get your hopes up for FL OL Jessamen Dunker, FL OL Ty Darlington, FL TE Kent Taylor, or FL QB Bennie Coney. FL DL Jelani Hamilton is open early. Greg Schiano is lecturing at a NIKE clinic in Orlando later in the month.

This year's class in Maryland is supposed to be good.

Kevin Rogers going to BC would be somewhat of a problem, depending on how many recruiting responsibilities he takes on as offensive coordinator. BC has fallen off in NJ recruiting as of late. Keep in mind there are currently a couple unemployed assistants out there with NJ ties (i.e., former Maryland DL coach Dave Sollazzo) out there conceivably capable of popping up again and causing trouble.

Social media posts untold rewards and risks for recruiting. If anything, that article far understates the issue considering some recent incidents, which Jerry Carino kind of alluded to on his blog. BTW, Andrew Campolattano is quoted in that piece. Here's his latest update even though he's a wrestling prospect now (not sure where to put it then).

Jerry Sanchez compares Pitt firing Dave Wannstedt this year to Syracuse axing Paul Pasqualoni six years ago. Both clearly had an impact, but were one factor of many.

Is youth football starting to mirror AAU basketball?

Ever wanted to earn a scholarship as a long snapper/ Chris Rubio has a new blog up covering that very topic.

Rutgers signed no junior college transfers from between 2007 and 2010. Actually, that article is wrong, at the minimum because Rivals for some reason doesn't list Teddy Dellaganna as a JUCO signee.

Educated Quest unfortunately doesn't have a recap of the latest TD Club meeting, but it's still worth reading.

Watchlist: This is a section of this site's weekly recruiting posts featuring links to players that Rutgers may or may not be showing interest in, but has not yet offered.
