Committed players
Scarlet Report is giving readers a peak behind the paywall with articles on '10 commits Marcus Thompson, Casey Turner, and Jeremy Deering. Several signees started summer classes today.
Uncommitted players
What of the prospects who have seemingly been poised for a while now to verbal to Rutgers, like Neptune ATH Charles Davis? He's still collecting offers in the meantime, and planning to chat up fellow top state prospects at Sunday's New Jersey-Northeast All-Star Classic.
"Actually I think in the next couple of weeks I’m going to go ahead and do it (commit). I’m starting to get a little ready. We had a recruiter call the house at like 10:30 the other night and woke everybody up. My dad wasn’t too happy about that," he laughed. "It wasn’t too bad because it had to do with the time difference (in different parts of the country) but I think it’s about time."
NJ ATH Miles Shuler has added offers from PSU and Iowa (there's free NW Shuler fluff on Scout). If anyone's going to give Shuler a run as the fastest runner in the state this year, it'll be ATH Damiere Byrd.
NJ OL Angelo Mangiro is the latest in the York Daily Record's series on PSU recruiting targets.
"He could play guard or center," said Tom Lemming of CBS College Sports. "He's very productive and moves well, and he's got a nasty disposition on the field, which is important."
What's the latest on PA ATH Terrell Chestnut?
"This summer I’m definitely going to be visiting some campuses. I may do a couple of camps. I’m just going to explore different schools."
Though Chestnut isn’t 100-percent sure of where he will be going he did mention Rutgers, Pitt, West Virginia and Maryland as possible visit destinations, and said he would get to "as many as (he) can."
NJ ATH Bill Belton's list is...rather odd. What's up here?
“West Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Purdue, Oregon, Penn State, Cincinnati, Louisville, Maryland, Pittsburgh,” Belton said, listing the schools he is still considering.
It's another week, another couple of offers for NJ TE Jack Tabb.
NJ DL Connor Wujciak is a Notre Dame legacy, and they've finally pulled the trigger on an offer.
CT OL Tommy Jordan has taken visits to BC and Rutgers, but it'll be hard to lure him from Florida.
Rutgers was one team spotted scouting the Dillard/Norland Mosquito Bowl down in Florida, and also made an appearance at an Aquinas scrimmage in Ft. Lauderdale.. FL DE Clay Burton will probably stay in state. With Florida now in the mix, I'm writing off FL DB Alex Dixon. UGA offered FL WR Ja'Juan Story. It sounds like FL WR Sammy Watkins prefers UF and Miami to Michigan. FL LB Tony Stewart is one of three Jacksonville-area prospects profiled over the weekend, and is looking at Clemson, UF, and FSU. FL ATH Tacoi Sumler wants to major in business.
RU is one of several early standouts to MD DE Marco Jones. MD OL Cyrus Kouandjio continues to say he's wide open.
Why? Because the 6-foot-7, 295-pound offensive tackle was born in Cameroon and because of his background swears he didn’t have the awareness of college football that many of today’s top recruits have.
PA RB Jameel Poteat plans to visit Notre Dame.
The first Rivals 100 is out and it's pretty bad. Savon Huggins didn't get any respect at all.
Non Rutgers news: want to see the blog comments/message board meltdown of the week? That would be Arkansas fans reacting to losing in-state QB Kiehl Frazier to Auburn.
Watchlist: This is a section of this site's weekly recruiting posts featuring links to players that Rutgers may or may not be showing interest in, but has not yet offered.
Ronald "Duke" Baines, Cameron Dickerson, Herzel Glashen, Desimon Green, P.J. James, Ryan Malleck, Corey Majors, DeAndre Scott, Solomon Simpkins, Kevin Sousa, and Cassius Williams.
