  • Football Outsiders looks at Defensive ROY candidate Devin McCourty.
  • Tampa Bay promoted George Johnson from their practice squad to the active roster.
  • Indiana University of Pennsylvania fired Rutgers alum Lou Tepper from his head coaching job. He was a former Illinois HC and longtime FBS assistant. It probably doesn't even remotely matter, but for what it's worth Cignetti is an IUP alum (his father coached there after being fired by WVU).
  • Fanhouse's Brett McMurphy did some good work investigating drug policies at FBS schools. FYI, PSU, Pitt, and Temple are considered "state-related" universities and thus not subject to Pennsylvania's open records law for the most part.
  • WHAT?!?!? West Virginia only sold 4,403 tickets to the Champs bowl? Did they forget a zero somewhere? They clearly do have great fan support, so that number has to be interpreted as another indictment of Bill Stewart.
  • Rutgers has a new men's golf coach. IIRC, the university actually listed the open position for months on its HR website. I remembered that because I've been checking to see if any football assistant positions would be listed (they were at Texas a few weeks ago) to no luck.
  • The Patriot League won't offer football scholarships just yet anyway. At some point it'd be nice to not play a MEAC FCS team for once.
