0-12
Rutgers started the game 0-12 from the field.
But after James Beatty knocked a 3 pointer down, the team started to roll.
More after the jump...
The game truly belonged to Dane Miller, who recorded his second straight double double (17 points, 10 rebounds). He was going to the basket. He passed wisely. He pulled down strong rebounds. Miller took over the game when he needed to, help push the lead 16 at one point.Austin Johnson had to log a ton of minutes, eventually fouling out, because Gil Biruta had an ankle problem and wqas in early foul trouble.
James Beatty was solid, hitting 3 three pointers before half time, and hitting some clutch shots when needed. Jonathan Mitchell also scored double figures quietly, struggling a bit from the field.
The biggest stat, however, was rebounding. Predicted to be the weakest part of the Rutgers team, RU was able to out-rebound Auburn 46-33. Auburn hadn't been out-rebounded all season.
RU also withstood a late Tigers run, when they were up 16. Last year, the Knights may have folded up the tents and let the Tigers back in the game, but this time it didn't happen.
Another solid win for the Scarlet Knights. This was on a neutral court. At 6-2, RU has 3 winnable games coming up before facing UNC at Madison Square Garden.
