Rutgers football recruiting update for the week of 11/9

Committed Players

Not really sure what to think about FL ATH Chevelle Buie after this latest update, where he confirms that his mother and coach asked him to look around.

"They were kind of hot, kind of mad," he said. "That kind of turned me off a little bit. But I'm not going to let that bother me. I won't hold it against them. I just want to take some recruiting visits, see some other schools. I'm keeping my options open. You never know what other schools have for you unless you look into it."

That reaction is understandable, but at the same time, the staff has a duty to put together as good of a class as possible.

QB Mike Bimonte was 8/13 for 203 yards and TD for Manalapan.

Coach Schiano visited Downingtown East (PA) on Friday to scout TE Tyler Kroft in person.

Anthony Davis and Marvin Booker were on hand as Daryl Stephenson and Sayreville squared off against Piscataway.

ATH Charles Davis is still out with a knee injury.

ATH Ben Martin didn't have a great game on the ground, but contributed with a few catches.

Uncommitted Players

NJ OL Josue Matias has visits lined up.

He has an official visit to Wisconsin scheduled for November 13, and he recently set up trips to Georgia for November 26 and Rutgers on December 10.

He just visited UNC along with NJ RB Savon Huggins. Huggins, with an assist from Sheldon Royster, helped SPP destroy Malcolm Crockett's Friendship Academy team. Speaking of Royster, while I'm sure South Carolina would still love to have him, they did just add their fifth DB commit.

NJ ATH Miles Shuler was again great, but it wasn't enough for Long Branch.

PA DE Branden Jackson and DT/OL Delvon Simmons visited Oregon over the weekend.

There's no public word on NJ QB Tanner McEvoy's suspension.

"School policy is that we don't comment on school issues," McGovern said. "We love Tanner, he's part of our family, he's part of our football program, and he's going to be back with us soon."

Campanile reiterated that the 6-foot-5, 210-pound McEvoy will return to practice within the next few days.

He apparently is looking at RU though.

NJ TE Jack Tabb is still setting up his official visits. Rutgers is in his top 8.

Cross off NY DE Ishaq Williams.

Lincoln football All-American Ishaq Williams, one of the nation’s more sought-after prospects, has whittled down his college list, at one time as long as 30, to five: USC, Syracuse, Penn State, Notre Dame and Alabama.

2012 NJ ATH Brandon Napoleon received his first offer from UNC. 2012 PA RB Desmon Peoples has added a second offer from Pitt.

This ship has long since sailed, but MD ATH Darius Jennings is down to six.

FL WR Andre Davis continues to name Rutgers as a school of interest. 2012 FL QB Tyler Cameron already has a lot of interest.

MD LB Connor Crowell committed to Ohio State, which is pretty bad news for Penn State.
