Rutgers football recruiting update for the week of 10/21

Note: This is delayed from Tuesday, and does not include any post-Tuesday updates.

Committed Players

QB Mike Bimonte continued his strong senior season with a win over Old Bridge.

RB Ben Martin was ok last week, but didn't play as well as he did in the same game last year.

TE Tyler Kroft keeps looking good every week.

DT Al Page is recovering from a major health scare.

DT Daryl Stephenson has a strong leg on kickoffs.

Hey, LB Andrew Campolattano and Bound Brook finally won a game.

LB Quentin Gause had a big game at running back.

Couldn't find a full stat line for ATH Chevelle Buie.

ATH Charles Davis returned from a bone bruise to lead Neptune to a win.

Uncommitted Players

NJ ATH Miles Shuler was named to the Army All-American Bowl (is that the first Mark Pszonak article in a while?) Along with his upcoming visit to Northwestern, Shuler is looking at six other programs.

No other visits have been scheduled, but Shuler said Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, Rutgers and North Carolina are among the other schools in the mix.

NJ RB Savon Huggins visited Notre Dame over the weekend. He is having a brilliant season. MaxPreps has updates on upcoming visits for Huggins and NJ OL Josue Matias.

Scott Stump reported that NJ DE Shilique Calhoun visited Michigan State.

2012 NJ WR Leonte Carroo claims no favorites at this time.

PA DE Branden Jackson could join DT/OL Delvon Simmons on an upcoming official visit to Iowa.

NJ QB Tanner McEvoy is going through a breakout senior season.

NJ WR Damiere Byrd is probably about to verbal to South Carolina.

2012 MD OT Mike Madaras lists a bunch of early offers, as does 2012 MD DT Eddie Goldman.

Charges were dropped against FL DL Giovanni Francois, so it'll be interesting to see if what happens with him going forward. Rutgers supposedly offered FL lineman Chad Hannah, although that has yet to be confirmed. FL DB Alex Dixon isn't mentioning Rutgers. This ESPN update has an update on a bunch of long shot Florida targets. FL RB Mike Blakely favors Florida, which is good even though Huggins probably wouldn't want to play in their offense anyway.

Penn State still only has four verbal commits. They have some staff issues, but it's too early to outright panic.

FL OT Jordan Prestwood decommitted from Notre Dame. FL lineman Ruben Carter committed to FSU.

Watchlist: This is a section of this site's weekly recruiting posts featuring links to players that Rutgers may or may not be showing interest in, but has not yet offered.

Deion Barnes, Deon Bush, Dan Crimmins, Dan FoeselTay Shon Hayward, Gunnar HolcombeJordan Mynatt, Leo Krizanovic (2), and Jamie Williams.
