Looks like I jumped the gun last week on PA CB Kyoshoen Jarrett (2, 3 and probably the best one). Reported new offers include Middletown TE/DE Shilique Calhoun, DC OL Jamar Lewter, DC DT Kevin McReynolds (2), VA CB Demetrious Nicholson, GA DE Ray Drew, FL ATH Tacoi Sumler, FL WR Ja'Juan Story, FL DE Ryan Shazier, FL TE Jeff Heuerman, and the St. Thomas Aquinas trio of WRs Phil Dorsett/Rashad Greene and OT Bobby Hart.
Kristian Dyer's new SI column has more on Nicholson, and loads more from the Badger Sports 7-on-7 event at Rutgers over the weekend.
"They told me that I probably won't be getting an offer that early," he said. "That's just the way they do things. I am interested in them and have made several unofficial visits and plan to visit there more, though."
Does that have anything to do with his reported 2.5 GPA?
NJ ATH Miles Shuler added an offer from West Virginia. He's not only the local speedster blowing up, as the same goes for Bill Belton with South Carolina. Damiere Byrd has Iowa and Cincinnati. Here's more on Byrd, along with a bit abother a new name in Brandon Cottom that I'm not familiar with, and some other relevant updates.
He called Oregon and Florida his two dream schools right now. Brandon Cottom, Council Rock North (Newtown, PA), Running Back
Cottom rushed for 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns last season and currently has offers from Duke, Syracuse and Rutgers and has attended Junior Days at Syracuse and Rutgers already.
Michigan Sports Zone has their own update on prospects attending the ESPN/Nike Combine in Philly.
"Rutgers was real nice, too. It was better than I expected. It’s close to home, which is definitely a positive thing. I would love it if my family could come to almost every game."
DE Max Issaka has a specific defensive role in mind. Given what seems to happen with LB/DE tweeners at Rutgers, he doesn't have a thing to worry about.
"Rutgers basically wants me as a hybrid. They (Rutgers) want me to play both linebacker and defensive end. I don’t feel too comfortable playing linebacker, though."
Oklahoma's throwing their hat in the ring for NY DE Ishaq Williams.
PA OL Kevin Reihner has an early leader.
"But I'd say, right now, that everyone else is playing catch-up to Pitt," Reihner said, adding that's currently his top school.
I'm just going to group together new links for CT OL Conor Hanratty (2), MD OL Cyrus Kouandjio, MD DT Vincent Croce, PA LB Ben Kline, PA TE Ben Koyack, NY LB Quentin Gause without quotes. They all have offers, and I'm not particularly optimistic about landing any of those guys.
