3/2 Recruiting Update

New, 1 comment

New reported offers include FL DE Ruben Carter, FL DE Anthony Rabasa, and NY WR Devon Cajuste.

"I haven’t really heard anything else from them," Cajuste said of Notre Dame. "But my parents want me to go to either Notre Dame or Penn State. They want me to be at one of those two schools.

Michigan Sports Zone has a great writeup of last weekend's Badger Sports 7 on 7 event at the Rutgers bubble. Recommended read. They've also posted a video interview with Long Branch's Miles Shuler. Shuler is starting to blow up. He just picked up an offer from Michigan on the heels of an elite track performance. Check out their other Shuler videos.

Thanks to nik12 for finding a link that says that NY ATH Brandon Reddish attended the recent Nike Combine in Pittsburgh. ESPN's JC Shurburtt is also reporting that St. Peter's Prep lineman Keith Lumpkin is sitting on several offers. More Twitter chatter is that Timber Creek athlete Damiere Byrd favors South Carolina and RU early. More Byrd:

"Rutgers is in my home state so I am familiar with the campus up there," he said. "It's nice. UConn is a little different and very interesting."

PA CB Terrell Chestnut has an early top 5.

He listed Penn State, Rutgers, Pitt, Villanova, and Temple as apart of his top five at this early stage in the recruitment game.

Seton Hall Prep DL Connor Wujciak has no early favorites, and is waiting for more offers.

Couple new updates on a few NY state targets. First up is Kieran Borcich.

Borcich is planning on taking visits to Maryland and Duke in the spring. He said both schools have extended offers, as have Baylor, Rutgers and Boston College.

The talented defensive lineman also wants to make return trips to Rutgers and Boston College. In addition to those schools he has been hearing consistently from Northwestern, Stanford and UConn.

Rutgers is one of three early favorites for Bronx DT Al Page.

"I’ve visited Rutgers and that was about two weeks ago. It was a press day or a press week … something like that. I really liked the school’s weight room facility and the campus. It’s a nice campus. I also like the locker rooms and jacuzzi they have. I was really impressed with all of that."

"I talked to Greg Schiano and had a one-on-one with him. I talked to the strength coach, the recruiting coach and the defensive line coach, too."

Finally, Brooklyn DE Ishaq Williams.

"Everyone is equal right now," Williams said. "I’m trying to learn about the schools (that have offered). And of course I’m interested in big schools like USC, Texas, Georgia, schools like that."

NY LB Quentin Gause has an offer too, but I'm not really paying attention to him because he's from Upstate NY. InsideMDSports has a few free updates on the likes of DC DT Kevin McReynolds, DC QB Kevin Hogan, and MD DE Marco Jones. Nittany Network has some filler up on DE OL Trip Thurman and CT OL Conor Hanratty, same for this one on MA CB Albert Louis-Jean.

FL ATH Brandon Fulse doesn't seem to be mentioning RU much, and Rutgers didn't make an early top five for ATH Teddy Bridgewater. Ditto for RB Mike Blakely. Two other longshot prospects in FL TE Nick O'Leary and QB Jacoby Brissett are mentioned here.

It's official: Roxbory HC Cosmo Lorusso will coach the NJ team in the upcoming New Jersey vs. Northeast All-Star Classic game in June at Rutgers Stadium.

The Hartford Courant has a new piece about UConn's ongoing difficulties with in-state recruiting in Connecticut.

Holy Spirit LB Anthony Sarao committed to Stanford on Saturday, but may still take visits. Virginia DB Ronnie Vandyke, a heavy VT lean, committed to the Hokies over the weekend.

Watchlist: Quinton Alston, Ronald Baines (2), Tyjae Blackwell, Brandon Chudnoff, Vince DePaola (few interesting tidbits), Tyriek Harrison, Kyshoen Jarrett, Andre Hodge, Adam Lane, Robert Mahan, Shutang Mungwa, Chris Polony, and DeVante Waugh.
