9/22 Recruiting Update

J.T. Tartacoff, slowed by an ankle injury, is coming off a quiet week.

Chas Dodd had three touchdowns on the week.

It was a big game for Jordan Thomas.

Jawaun Wynn will play in next June's football classic at RU Stadium.

Sharrif Floyd on his official visits.

Later this week I will pack my bags again as I head out to USC. I visited Florida last weekend and I still have Penn State, South Carolina and North Carolina to go in the future.

A lot of people are asking me if I have a top five, if I have already made my decision. I haven't. I am keeping my mind wide open. Besides the five schools I am taking official visits to, I also have Boston College, Rutgers, Ohio State and Cincinnati in the mix.

South Carolina RB Mustafa Greene was named the AA Bowl player of the week for his 278 yard, 4 TD performance.

What's the status of Florida athlete James Potts? Does he even have an offer? It is a mystery.

American Heritage senior James Potts, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back, has received offers from Vanderbilt, Rutgers and Memphis, but so far the only one of those schools he has visited is Rutgers.

I noticed that receiver Willis Wright is listed as having an offer on Rivals and Scout now, and added him to the board. Florida athlete Jeremy Deering is putting his decision off until after the season. DT Ken Kirksey is garnering more interest. Receiver O.J. Ross isn't mentioning Rutgers.

Neither is Torian Richardson.

Wondering what's up with the recent talk about State of Rutgers changing affiliations from Scout to ESPN? I haven't spoken to anyone from SoR, but am quite familiar with similar cases from around the Scout network. The bottom line is that their technology is trash, the network stiffs affiliates, and is losing money hand over fist in an epic disaster of an operation that probably won't be around a year from now. SoR does a relatively good job, and I hope that they can land on their feet with a more-professional service. For any additional details, I recommend reading this writeup (I have independently corroborated the key details during various conversations). It's not sour grapes when ever former affiliate has the exact same story.

9/23 update: It's official: SoR is ending its affiliation with Scout.com. No word yet on any further moves.

Staten Island DE Dominique Easley verballed to PSU. Virginia safety Andre Simmons committed to Vanderbilt.

Watchlist: Jason Bromley, Sherard Cadogan, Forrest Mason, Wayne Morgan, and Rashaun Smith.
