Huge update today. I also tried to fix most of the (now) dead links on the board.
Doug Rigg's recruitment is blowing up.
Iowa, Wisconsin, Maryland, West Virginia and Rutgers have all extended offers to Rigg, who hails from one of the region’s top talent-producing high schools.
"In the past couple of weeks a lot of colleges have been down to Bergen to come in the weight room and come to the school," Rigg explained. "I’ve met a lot of them just briefly.
"UNC has come by. Penn State, Connecticut, Hofstra, Temple and Iowa came down. Stanford, Pitt, Rutgers and some others, too."
Keith Sargeant spoke with Bennett Jackson and Joe Brennan at the Big Time Showcase, as well as several Piscataway standouts. Brennan is getting a lot more interest as of late. Meanwhile, Scout has a freebie on Brandon Hill. Adam Zagoria and Scout have more on the Showcase.
I'm not really sure how to parse this statement from Shakim Phillips (article also has updates on Khairi Fortt and Sharrif Floyd).
Phillips, who said he is going to be looking at academics (he wants to major in business management), the player-coach relationship and football tradition, talked about the number of players that played high school football in New Jersey (seven) being selected in the first round of the recent NFL draft.
"It's just great to know that people came from Jersey," Phillips said. "It just shows that New Jersey has good football and not all of the good schools are down in the South."
Lineman Arthur Doakes apparently has offers from RU and Pitt.
James Kittredge is piling up offers.
Maryland, Central Florida, Duke, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Virginia, West Virginia, Akron and Louisville all have offered Kittredge. Notre Dame and Michigan State are showing interest along with the Gamecocks.
He has been to Maryland and Rutgers and talked about those two programs.
Rutgers: "They were the first school to offer. It’s a great place with great facilities. They love football at Rutgers and have a good atmosphere. It’s a program that’s on the way up."
Danny Foose named Rutgers in his top 3 with BC and Stanford.
Rutgers: "I’ve visited Rutgers plenty of times. I have a real good relationship with the coaches from there. I fell at home when I go there. I like how they use the power game and run the ball a lot."
There's a lot you don't know about Sharrif Floyd.
He grew up in a drug-infested environment. His biological father died two days before he was born. There isn’t much his young eyes haven’t seen already.
"I was always frustrated at a young age, but growing up in a bad situation, there are only two ways you can go, run the streets and sell drugs, or go another way and do something with your life," Floyd said. "I grew up in a drug environment. I grew up around all of that stuff. I’ve had people I grew up who were locked up, some of them were shot and killed. After one of my friends died, I stayed away from a lot of things after that."
Irish Sports Daily's offer board is free (for now at least), and has information on several RU targets including Corey Brown, Bennett Jackson, and T.J. Clemmings among others.
Here's another QB with an offer.
According to Siemian he has scholarship offers from Rutgers, Duke, FIU, ECU, Tulane, Syracuse, Western Michigan, and Middle Tennessee.
Donnell Kirkwood is interested.
"Minnesota was the first offer for me. I thought it was good and very happy because it was my first one. I don’t know much about them but I will visit them probably this summer. I would also like to see Pitt, Rutgers, Kansas State, and Ole Miss. I don’t have a favorite but the schools I am most interested in are Minnesota, Pitt, and Rutgers."
Everyone wants Dominique Easley.
Does this Daquan Jones blurb mean anything?
Leaning toward staying in the Northeast, with Boston College, UConn, Rutgers and Syracuse in the mix.
The Rivals DB says Jacksonville center Traman Williams has an offer. His latest update just mentions a Vandy offer. Going to look into this...
More on Jackson Jeffcoat...
Connecticut prospects want to receive more attention too. Yahoo Sports has more on the Five-Star Showdown. RU doesn't appear to be showing much interest in Blake Barker.
Arie Kouandjio was at PSU last weekend. Zach Zwinak wants to play tailback. Tyrek Cheeseboro isn't mentioning RU.
Mobile quarterback Mark Leal committed to VT. Jose Jose committed to Tennessee.
Watchlist: Bill Bilo, Sherard Cadogan, Dontae Johnson, Antonio Sibilia, and Brandon Vitabile.
