5/5 Recruiting Update

Florida wants Corey Brown.

"I talk to coach Meyer a lot," Brown said. "They are by far recruiting me the hardest right now. I just like everything about Florida. I like the lifestyle, the weather, and they have great academics."

Brown added that he likes the academics at Penn State and believes he could play early should he stay in state and head to Happy Valley. He has more than 30 total scholarship offers and plans to narrow his list to five to 10 schools in the next couple of weeks.

Will Kevin Haplea start narrowing down his list? He was supposed to be one of many players at PSU's Nike Camp (links have updates on several RU targets) last weekend.

"I didn’t think about committing when I was at Penn State," Haplea said. "I want to go to the Florida schools in June. The earliest I would decide is sometime in the middle of the summer."

However, Haplea may soon narrow things down to at least a tentative list.

"In a week or two I’d like to narrow down my list and make it public, but it’s tough because I haven’t seen the Florida schools," he said.

Haplea ended up missing the camp, but he reportedly favors PSU. ESPN has even more details on Sharrif Floyd and Khairi Fortt, among others.

Dominique Easley has added a verbal offer from Florida. He'll play in the UA AA game, and won't make his decision until the fall.

Shakim Phillips says it's still early. RU targets Tejay Johnson and Jordan Thomas both are doing well in track. James Kittredge was at UCLA's spring game. Tom Lemming deems T.J. Clemmings the best player in New Jersey. Guess that means Notre Dame must be interested!

Darius Milines reports offers from RU, Minnesota, FIU, and Buffalo. SoFlaFootball has a scouting report on Donnell Kirkwood. BTW, is it Donnell or Darnell? I've also added several other longshot Florida offers to the board.

Tarean Austin isn't seen as a quarterback in college. Kenny Shaw might or might not like FSU. Michigan leads for Rashad Knight. RU isn't in his top five. On that note, I liked looking at this Florida recruiting board to get an idea of who the Gators are realistically going after.

Maryland lineman Shane Johnson added an offer from the Terps. I added lineman Robby Havenstein to the board too. Other top MD recruits were at the UA Baltimore Combine.

Don't get your hopes up for Kyle Baublitz or Zach Zwinak. Two more Pittsburgh-area players are showing up as having offers in Cullen Christian and Brandon Ifill.

As expected, Seth Betancourt committed to BC. Silas Redd committed to PSU. Tyler Smith committed to Maryland.

Wait, how the heck is Antwon Chisholm still on the Glades Central team?

Watchlist: Christopher Brathwaite, Kamal Hogan, Michael Lisi, Dustin Thomas, Brandon Vitabile, and Salath Williams.
