4/21 Recruiting Update

J.T. Tartacoff is commit #2.

Nothing yet from Shakim Phillips.

"I’m still open," Phillips said. "I’m still taking everything in just because I don’t know where I want to go so I have to start looking at some different schools.

"I just sit back and let everything come in. I’m not going to force myself into anything. I’m still mild about everything. I’m not even thinking about college. I have a whole other year. I’m still lifting now. I still have to take my SATs now. I’m not even listening to colleges yet."

Dominique Easley recently talked about his interest in Penn State.

Easley has played defensive end, defensive tackle and linebacker over the past two seasons. He will play either defensive end or tackle in college.

Easley has scholarship offers from Penn State, Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Maryland, Oregon, Duke and Connecticut.

Quick one from ESPN about Jarrett Darmstatter.

Tight end / defensive end prospect Jarrett Darmstatter is currently holding scholarship offers from Rutgers, Iowa, East Carolina and Central Florida, according to his high school coach Rob Davis.

The Scarlet Knight and Hawkeyes are recruiting Darmstatter as a tight end while the Pirates and Knights have offered him as a defensive end.

Darmstatter caught 20 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns during his junior campaign.

Tarean Austin has Rutgers in his early top 3.

Seth Betancourt is getting more interest.

"My latest offer is from South Carolina," Betancourt told Sporting News Today. "I love the SEC; that's probably my favorite conference. Ole Miss has offered me too ... I want my parents at every game. They've been at every game I've played in growing up. But they've told me I shouldn't worry about it. that distance isn't really a big factor."

Another QB offer is out, to Tyler Smith.

Smith noted he has been talking to Clemson and Rutgers lately. He also mentioned a new school that has jumped into the mix.

"Rutgers just recently offered," he said. "Coach has been talking to a bunch of different schools, too. He thinks Iowa is close to offering, or is going to offer. We’ll see what May brings."

Scout.com analyzed quarterback Brandon Hill last week.

Hill looks to be a player that will need to play in a system that uses a lot of short and intermediate passes with layered routes to move downfield. He is an accurate passer that shows adequate ball placement, however he puts little velocity on his passes which makes me question his arm strength. His long ball floats and flutters. He does see the field well, looks off defensive backs and will go through all of his progressions.

James White will start focusing on recruiting over the summer. Florida lineman Richard Ash now has an offer. Scout is now showing an offer to Darnell Kirkwood.

Corey Brown now has a Clemson offer.

Gifford Timothy isn't mentioning Rutgers at all.

Lots of big name players were in attendance for the Scout combine in Baltimore. Arie Kouandjio has added a Cal offer; now they lead?

Scout just posted new highlights for Aaron Donald. The Rivals database is showing an offer out to Pittsburgh-area DE/LB Ken Wilkins.

Brandon Coleman doesn't seem to be mentioning Rutgers much at the moment.

Another likely token offer is out to back Mustafa Green.

Tavadis Glenn is off the board (Miami). Marvin Robinson finally committed to Miami, likewise with Jordan Haden and Gerald Christian to Florida, and new Syracuse verbal Myles Davis out of Pittsburgh said he had a Rutgers offer. Could Silas Redd commit to PSU this weekend? There's a chance Khairi Fortt might too.

Watchlist: Robert Clark, Shawn Corker, Don Hursey, Devonte Lindsey, Corey Reeder, Casey Turner, Robert Welsh, and Kevin Umejei.
