3/24 Recruiting Update

Brandon Hill is starting to get more interest.

"Things are going well, I’ve been in touch with the Purdue coaches and Connecticut coaches," he said. "Rutgers is still my only offer. I think the rest of the schools want to see me in person. Right now the schools showing the most interest are Purdue, Connecticut, Maryland and Rutgers."

Kevin Haplea will be in the hizzouse next week.

"Florida, Virginia, Clemson and Duke are schools I’m looking at," he said. "I think those four are close to offering. Those are schools farther away that I haven’t seen in person."

Haplea has visited Penn State and is looking forward to another trip to State College.

"I’m visiting Penn State and Pitt next weekend," he said. "Then on Monday I visit Rutgers. I’ll be at Penn State on Saturday. I won’t be able to go to their spring game because of baseball."

Nothing new with Gifford Timothy.

"Alabama wants to recruit him and Princeton is engaging him along with Utah. Illinois came to the school and has sent a lot of paperwork. Colleges keep talking, but he has the same four offers, BYU, Maryland, Rutgers and Boise State."

The Rivals five star showdown in Annapolis included a number of big name Maryland prospects. Arie Kouandjio now has a PSU offer. Nick Forbes has a video interview from the event.

Sounds like Khairi Fortt likes ND and PSU.

Sharrif Floyd is getting interest from the Pac-10.

This Corey Brown update doesn't really say all that much.

Blake Barker is getting interest on both sides of the ball, and now Florida and Tennessee are involved.

Finally, a Florida player without offers from the big 3; here's James White.

PA defensive end Kyle Baublitz now has a Rutgers offer.

"I have 14 offers now," Baublitz said. "I have Connecticut, Penn State, Rutgers, Pitt, Northwestern, Illinois, West Virginia, Boston College, Virginia, Clemson, Florida State, Stanford, Wisconsin and Maryland. Most of them have offered me for defensive end. A few of them say I could fit in at outside linebacker or tight end, but mostly they say defensive end."

Rutgers didn't make James Louis's early top five. He's favoring Florida.

"Yeah, I've got a top-five right now," Louis said. "It's the Florida Gators, Miami, Virginia Tech, South Florida and LSU. All five of those schools have offered."

Jacksonville DT Tavadis Barnes likes FSU, but he has a Rutgers offer.

South Carolina, South Florida, Maryland and Rutgers have offered Barnes. Before that, North Carolina and defensive line coach/ace recruiter John Blake had made a move toward the top of Barnes' list before FSU offered. The Tar Heels are still in the mix, though the Noles entrance into the race makes them less likely to land him. Then, there is the issue of Florida.

Jaylen Watkins is now favoring Florida.

Gio Bernard scored a FSU offer.

One recent offer that sticks out is the one from Florida State, Bernard told Sporting News Today. By the beginning of February, Bernard had earned offers from Miami (Fla.), Boston College, Auburn, Maryland, West Virginia, Oregon State, Rutgers and Florida International, but since then Arkansas, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, UConn, Pittsburgh and Purdue have joined the Seminoles as teams that have jumped on the bandwagon.

"Florida State was probably the biggest one in the last week or so," Bernard told SN Today. "They're always going to be a big-time school for me. They were always in my consideration because they're in Florida and they play a great schedule. They get talent from all across the nation ... But right now, I'd say nobody has the slight edge over anybody on my list."

Watchlist: Corey Reeder, Ransford Quarrie, Michael Lisi, and Marc Mauro.
