3/3 Recruiting Update

Rutgers is first out of the gate with Maryland receiver E.J. Scott.

"I’m getting looks for cornerback and wide receiver," he said. "Rutgers is looking at receiver and I don’t really have a preference, but I’d probably pick receiver if I had to choose."

Adam Zagoria talked with T.J. Cummings recently.

After the high school football season, Rutgers coach Greg Schiano flew to Paterson Catholic in a helicopter that landed on the school's football field. Schiano came ostensibly to visit 6-7 senior Jeyvi Miavivululu, who also plays both football and basketball, but his visit made an impression on Clemmings.

"I was in class and I heard the helicopter coming down on the field," Clemmings said. "It was a cool experience, but stuff like that I don't really get too excited over."

Corey Brown is a popular guy these days.

"With all the new offers, I don’t have a top eight anymore," Brown said. "I’m looking at a lot of schools.

Uh, not exactly what you want to hear from a player from Staten Island.

While a lot of prospects give the edge to the schools that are closer to home, that’s not the case with Easley. He wants to get out and see a new part of the country during his college years.

"Basically for me, one of the biggest things is going to be that I want to get away," he said. "I just want to get out and experience something new somewhere else."

Florida leads for Maryland safety Jordan Haden.

Safety / outside linebacker prospect Jordan Haden informed ESPN affiliate Web site GatorCountry.com that Florida, where older brother Joe plays, currently leads for his signature.

"Florida is still number one. I really like the academics there. Joe has a 3.4 GPA and he tells me how they give you tutors to help you out. Also, I really like the players and the coaches at Florida."

However, Haden isn't necessarily a Gators lock. While he hopes to make an early decision, Haden would still like to check out several other schools such as LSU, North Carolina, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Illinois before announcing.

Some see Zach Zwinak at a VT lean, but the latest NittanyNetwork article says that he's open.

Lynden Trail is blowing up.

"I got FSU [verbal offer] last night and University of Georgia this morning," said Trail. "I got the FSU letter today."

ESPN says that Tampa DB Terrence Mitchell has an offer.

Eduardo Clements now has a FSU offer, and he'll probably go there.

Another likely token offer is out, to Georgia tight end Brian Vogler.

Florida safety Jonathan Dowling committed to the Gators.

More players to watch: Dontae Johnson, Boomer Walton, William Jones, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Anthony Gonzalez, and Blake Barker.
