Mike Teel has signed with the Chicago Bears, joining former college teammate Kevin Malast in the Windy City. The above video actually was posted to YouTube on Sunday, and has some Rutgers mentions in it.
The Bears are very thin behind Jay Cutler at QB. Teel joins Caleb Hanie and sixth rounder Dan LeFevour as competitors for one or two backup jobs. That's about as good a situation as Mike will get to make a roster. In fact, it wouldn't be a big surprise if the Bears tried to add a veteran backup before the end of training camp.
Not to suggest that Cutler's starting job is in any danger at all, but Chicago OC Mike Martz has a history of developing backup quarterbacks into starters. Hopefully, he'll take a liking to Teel. It's also worth noting that Seattle's former GM Tim Ruskell, who drafted Teel a year ago, now works in Chicago's front office.
