I’ve Got Your Happy Valley Right Here

With Rutgers' impending move to the Big Ten, a hated rival returns to the schedule. It's time to roll out the welcome mat for "the team from pennsylvania" as only Jersey can.

T.J. Taylor commits to Rutgers

Let's face it: if there's a top football prospect out there in Middlesex or Somerset Counties, it's not news if he commits to Rutgers. It's news if Rutgers does not land those players. That being said, T.J. Taylor looks like a good get as a safety who may grow into a linebacker in time. You can't control when players are ready to commit obviously, but Rutgers has a lot of multi-positional athlete types now, and you'd really like to see a few more linemen commits start trickling in. Yeah, they got more than their fill last year, but you can never really have enough capable bodies on both sides of the ball. Finding a QB would be pretty big too.

Jevon Tyree gets his offer

Rutgers made a late run at trying to pull Kye Morgan (who would have committed in a heartbeat months ago if RU had been willing to take him) from UVA. Morgan decided to stick with UVA, so Rutgers in turn offered another late scholarship to Jevon Tyree from South Brunswick. Tyree, a cousin of David Tyree, and former South Brunswick star Mohamed Sanu, quickly jumped on the offer to fill out the defensive backfield depth in this year's class.

Ian Thomas signs with Rutgers

Rutgers already has three blue chip WRs signed for 2012 in Leonte Carroo, Ruhann Peele, and Carlton Agudosi. The last two aren't locks to qualify though, nor is athlete tweener Delon Stephenson. That could explain the decision to go after Thomas, who is a pretty good prospect in his own right. Either someone doesn't qualify, or Thomas and/or Stephenson end up on defense along with Davon Jacobs and Jevon Tyree.

Who should Rutgers hire for its next head football coach?

Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti's rolodex can rival any other figure in college sports due to his lengthy stints at ABC Sports and CSTV/CBS Sports. After the past twenty four hours, you...

Ryan Brodie is a Scarlet Knight

The best offensive line class in school history is complete, with Ryan Brodie's commitment today securing the final piece of the puzzle. Brodie was long considered a heavy Rutgers lean due to his friendship with Miles Shuler, and now he is following in Shuler's footsteps by committing to the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers looks set on the offensive side of the ball. As far as remaining targets, DT Darius Hamilton is a must get. QB Devin Fuller is a luxury that would be really nice, as would another linebacker or defensive back if there's still room at the inn.
