Mike Teel to Wagner College

Congratulations to Mike. Kean is DIII, and Wagner is FCS, so Teel is moving up in the world. Guess this precludes the possibility of a graduate assistant job this year.

Mike Teel has signed with the Chicago Bears, joining former college teammate Kevin Malast in the Windy City. The above video actually was posted to YouTube on Sunday, and has some Rutgers mentions in it. The Bears are very thin behind Jay Cutler at QB. Teel joins Caleb Hanie and sixth rounder Dan LeFevour as competitors for one or two backup jobs. That's about as good a situation as Mike will get to make a roster. In fact, it wouldn't be a big surprise if the Bears tried to add a veteran backup before the end of training camp. Not to suggest that Cutler's starting job is in any danger at all, but Chicago OC Mike Martz has a history of developing backup quarterbacks into starters. Hopefully, he'll take a liking to Teel. It's also worth noting that Seattle's former GM Tim Ruskell, who drafted Teel a year ago, now works in Chicago's front office.

New England Patriots cut Mike Teel

Sigh. Considering how they're such good friends, one can only assume that Mike will wait for Jeff Rowe to sign with another team in order to displace him once again.

New England Patriots claim Mike Teel

Clearly, Greg Schiano has Bill Belichick's ear. The Patriots cut Jeff Rowe (who ironically lost his roster spot with the Seahawks to Teel) to open up a roster spot. Teel will compete with Brian Hoyer and Zac Robinson to back up Tom Brady, so clearly this is an excellent situation for him. Given how Peter King acted aghast at the very notion that Teel was even drafted last year, I wonder if he's feeling conflicted at all by this development.

The Seattle Seahawks waive Mike Teel

Teel broke the news via Twitter earlier, and it was later confirmed by Seattle. Unfortunately, while Teel was a favorite of Seattle's old coaching staff, the new Pete Carroll regime did not hold him in as high regard. The writing was probably on the wall once Seattle traded for Charlie Whitehurst, and now they've cut Teel loose after signing J.P. Losman the other day. What's especially odd is that Losman only gives Seattle three QBs on the roster. Teams usually like to bring four to camp, giving leeway to bump the fourth down to the practice squad. At least this gives Mike a head start on finding a new team. For shame Seattle - the man just moved into a new apartment! There were other teams besides the Seahawks that liked Teel in the run up to last year's draft, so now begins the task of finding one willing to bring him to camp. Ideally, he'll land with a stable, winning organization with a need for a reserve QB like the Patriots or Colts.

Mike Teel's legacy

(In reference to his mother's rantings) "Now that my father's dead, he's a saint. When he was alive, nothing." - Tony Soprano The era was a little before my time, but fans now recall Phil Simms...

What do Mike Teel and Jeff George have in common?

Put yourself in Troy Smith's shoes for a minute. You've just completed a wonderful season where you passed for thirty touchdowns and led the Buckeyes to the National Championship game. You're l...
