But The Post has learned all it will take is one crack, the slightest crack, and there almost surely will be a new basketball coach at Rutgers next season, or before the end of the current season.

— Lenn Robbins confirms Jerry Carino's story on Mike Rice. At the same time, Rice is said to be taking the suspension seriously and wants to do right by his family and the team.

Eric Murdock Spilled the Beans

Steve Politi and the rest of NJ.com have been working overtime on this. Apparently, Mike Rice had been berating players in practice and throwing basketballs at players' heads. After Murdock was fired, he went to Pernetti and threatened to release tapes of the incident(s). Pernetti's hand being forced, he suspended Rice. Embarrassing times for Rutgers basketball. Again.
