Swimmers recognized for classroom performance

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named Rutgers women's swimming and diving as a Scholar All-America Team, the association announced Tuesday. The Scarlet Knights achieved a team grade point average of 3.29 throughout the fall semester to earn the recognition.

The Team Scholar All-American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

It is the third consecutive season the Scarlet Knights have earned the honor under the guidance of head coach Phil Spiniello. It also marks the second consecutive semester the team has notched a spot on the list, following the recognition for the spring 2014 term.

All 13 Big Ten schools sponsoring women's swimming and diving were designated as Scholar All-America teams.
