I am New Jersey Proud

I have to get this off my chest and it has been bothering me since the whole statue of liberty debate years back. That's when I started to notice that when it came to New York and New Jersey people always seem to find a way to take a shot at New Jersey. Being from New Jersey I'm tried of this lack of respect my state gets. From TV shows to movies and to make matters worst the people themselves from New Jersey. Just because you live near New York and your family came from New York but you were born in New Jersey does not mean you should be ashamed. It's time for you all to have and show some New Jersey Pride. I have nothing against people from New York, but I do have a problem with those New Yorkers that have a superior mentally over those from New Jersey.

In our tri-state area people nationally will associate one city for each state. When it comes to Pennsylvania they'll think of "The City of Brotherly Love" in Philadelphia. In New York you have "The City that Never Sleeps" in New York City. And finally New Jersey is know for Atlantic City and its Board Walk. Now it's known wrongly for me anyway the TV show The Jersey Shore. For those who don't know New Jersey is more than the board walk and the Jersey Shore. There's history here that one can be proud of. If you're not into history and more of glamor. Check out the famous people who were born or raised in New Jersey. You might be surprised on who you'll find. Not to mention someone famous might have been born or lived in your hometown.

Now the reason behind this post is because over the weekend I'd got around to watching "The B1G Welcomes Rutgers". The first thing I see when I'd watched The B1G Welcomes Rutgers is them talking about New York and having a narrator from New York. Rutgers is a New Jersey institution, so why must the opening be about New York and not New Jersey? Anyway I have to congratulate those who produced the program. I had enjoyed it and found it quite informative. But for me I would have made a few changes. If I was to direct and produce the special it would have been at least 1 1/2 hours long. The first change would have been the narrator. I would have used someone like Eric, someone famous from New Jersey, or Morgan Freeman. Man gotta love the way he narrates. If I couldn't get him I would get Frank Caliendo to narrate like Morgan Freeman. Next I would cut out the New York opening and focus on what matters and that's the school. Following that the sports and academics that Rutgers offers needs to be known. I didn't think that they put enough emphasis on the other athletic programs as well as the education you can receive. I realize that this program is not only some program to introduce a new school to the conference, but also a recruiting film to students and their families, so the need to show what Rutgers offers from sports to education helps recruit without coaches have to visit those unknown prospects. Maybe they'll come to Rutgers first.
