Rutgers Hoops Schedule Released

Rich Schultz

Out of Conference portion highlighted by the Preseason NIT and a visit from Seton Hall. Temple opens the American slate on New Year's Day.

In the midst of more roster controversy, The American Athletic Conference and Rutgers released their full schedules today.  At the moment. it is impossible to predict or even guess at how Rutgers will do against their schedule, and likely won't be until Kerwin Okoro, Junior Etou and J.J. Moore's eligibility issues are finalized.  Also, teams are still waiting on the finalization of the Preseason NIT bracket.

Rutgers has to win the two home games in the preseason NIT (with one likely opponent being a tough Drexel squad), in order to travel to Madison Square Garden (to face off against either Arizona or Duke).  If Rutgers loses one of the game at the RAC, they will have to host two other games on 25th and 26th of November against lesser opponents.

As for the AAC schedule, it appears much less daunting than the typical Big East schedule.  There doesn't appear to be the "six games in a row against ranked opponents" section that there usually is.  If Rutgers' roster is full, and they adjust to Eddie Jordan's style, the team has a chance to at least be interesting.

Here's the full schedule:

Meanwhile, social media and websites turned up the heat on the Kerwin Okoro situation, calling for the NCAA to reverse its decision.  Stories appeared on the Yahoo! front page, USA Today, and Dick Vitale's Twitter.  Hopefully, the situation is overturned soon, as it appears those who transferred from Rutgers this off-season will be eligible this year.
