ESPN reports that Jerome Seagears is not going to Auburn after all.
Seagears apparently wants to be closer to family and friends in Maryland. Did he react too soon to the Mike Rice situation? Was it Rice that even caused him to transfer out? Was it the media circus, the losing? As others have said, let's take a look at the student-athletes in all of this. This young man was, I'm sure impacted by what happened with his coach. Emotionally scarred? Maybe. Or was he just fed up with everything else? It seems to me that there are people who "advise" these kids - and that's what they are, kids - on where to go and who to play for, and the bottom line may not be what's best for the athlete. If he wanted to be closer to his family in Maryland, why did he choose Auburn, almost 800 miles away? Guess it wasn't his family influencing his decision.
