The Rutgers athletic department today announced plans for the Kansas Jayhawks to visit Piscataway in 2015, with a return trip to Lawrence planned in 2018. While it's hard to assess how the Jayhawks will fare over the next few seasons, a BCS conference opponent is usually better than a non-BCS foe, and Rutgers definitely needed some more games with Temple disappearing from the OOC schedule upon joining the Big East. With this move, Rutgers has a set schedule for the next few seasons (assuming the Big East moves to eight conference games per year), which is welcome change after a long period of seemingly scrambling on a yearly basis for quality opponents. Presumably, Kansas coach Charlie Weis (who grew up ten minutes from the Rutgers campus) has eyes on recruiting some New Jersey prospects, but it's hard to view KU as much of a threat in that respect beyond the odd flier here and there, which does make them an ideal opponent in that respect. The press is also reporting on some previously-unknown MEAC games.
