It was hard not to see this coming. Nova was markedly better than Dodd last year when it came to accuracy and arm strength, but their similar stat lines were explained by the green Nova having a greater propensity for making crippling mistakes. Still, the fundamental building blocks were there, and as he gains experience, Nova will presumably learn to pick his spots better. The bottom line is that he is the better QB, and a better fit for the pro-style offense. Chas Dodd is a better fit in more of a spread attack. That being said, obviously Rutgers needs Dodd to stick around or its depth will be sorely tested, and he remains a valuable and experienced backup.
