WVU scheduling fallout begins
In light of WVU's rumored looming departure from the Big East (just as soon as the buyout deals are settled), Tom Luicci is floating a plan completely insane and preposterous...in the exact same way that the Big East adding Memphis was.
Update: as you might have expected, momentum is starting for the Big East to add Boise early. Wonder if that affects the proposed Arkansas series at all.

I don't have a problem with it
I like the idea of an in-season home-and-home with a conference rival. Obviously not an ideal scenario, but given the circumstances of trying to schedule a game this late into the process I would rather see a grudge match with SU than a game against a MAC or FCS opponent. Plus putting that second game in Yankee Stadium as a Syracuse home game makes its another quasi-home game for RU anyway. Save a few dollars on transportation costs.
Does it really matter anyway at this point? I am so tired of the whole conference expansion conversation. Until Rutgers is shown the escape hatch from the Big East, the conference schedule is a joke anyway.
Not the ideal situation
But definitely better than playing Little Sisters of the Poor or some other school that won’t boost our national profile. Our OOC schedule is already weak, If we can’t get a BCS school then Syracuse twice is the best option.

The Arkansas home & home is good news, at least.
A win or a respectable loss (i.e., < 14 pts.) on the road against a top SEC team this year will do a lot more for RU than a hundred FCS blowouts. And if they can get that game this year, then forget Syracuse part deux and grab any FBS team available, even if it’s the likes of (hee-hee) Memphis.
What is most interesting is what the impact to season tickets will be
Not a scientific poll by any means, but I know a few season ticket holders who have decided not renew this year, primarily because the home schedule lacks any interest for them. Howard, Kent State, Syracuse, UConn, Army, and Louisville? Just nothing to get excited about there for them, and I can’t really fault them for feeling that way.
They just feel like if they want to go to a game, won’t be all that difficult to just buy the single game tickets. In their minds, they are fed up with subsidizing the program for a complete slate of ‘crap games’.
