Rutgers/Seton Hall gamethread

Seton Hall Pirates at Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Feb 8, 2012 9:00 PM EST

All of the buildup, the pageantry, the storylines. Rutgers/Seton Hall is the grand daddy of them all, and a year of waiting finally comes to fruition tonight. Auda! Carroll! This is the BIG EAST!

Offense

I feel like this is a slow game offensively. No one seems to be taking the reins for RU. Defense is strong as usual.

Christ Burita. Can anyone on this team make an easy put-back?

Unbelievably sloppy on offense tonight.

Biruta

Needs to spend about 4 hours under the hoop tomorrow to figure out how to finish.

RU shot selection

is pretty much horrendous. Mack and Carter make some crazy shots but for the most part RU takes terrible shots, every game. The future is bright, but this is another frustrating game to watch

There was no gameplan on offense all night. There were two types of drives tonight: attempting to split two defenders and then getting shot blocked, or telegraphing passes to seton hall defenders and watching them go on a fast break.

NIT next year?

There was some optimism earlier this season, but it’s waning quickly.

Carter

Rice was just in Carters face and you could see Carter mouth “get the fuck out of my face”.

How many missed free throws & how many missed Biruta lay-ups?

This team relies way too much on the 3 and quite frankly, I can’t remember the last time we had an offensive set that didn’t consist of 3-4 guards standing still passing the ball around the arc with one or two “big” men standing at the elbow or lower block waiving. Certainly it was before 2003 when I started school

Were they saying "Boo" or "Boo-urns?"

Play on a team or showcase yourself ?

Appears that this is an unresolved question for a few players. Do they want to be a strong harmonizing ensemble producing hit after hit or just a hand full of stars sharing the same stage for a while and experiencing occasional (but unpredictable) bursts of brilliance?
