McCormick: Rutgers wants to keep Camden
However, that is with the caveat of it not being a choice. If it comes down to adding a hospital in New Brunswick or keeping Camden, McCormick is basically saying that Camden is an acceptable loss.
As far as the New Brunswick campus is concerned, he is correct.
Update: McCormick says the New Brunswick merger will cost $40 million. That cost is definitely worth it though if it means jumping Rutgers from 56th in the nation in R&D dollars to 32nd. It is hard to understate how much good is about to happen on the flagship campus. Even UMDNJ supports the merger now!

"I'm not throwing Camden under the bus unless you ask me too."
This appears to be what McCormick means. And left unsaid was, “Better yet, I’m retiring, so let my successor take the heat for this one.” It’s the right call, I think, but it still kind of stinks.
OTOH, if the grand bargain goes through, John Marinatto will immediately invite Rowan to join the Big East!
