Is Darnell Dinkins the new tight ends coach?
That was the word going around yesterday, and Dinkins has already made no secret of the hiring. He was an assistant tight end coach last year for Tampa Bay, and played a decade in the NFL before that as a reserve. Dinkins is from the Pittsburgh area, and will be one of the youngest staff members.
Assuming Dinkins is not a graduate assistant (which as you may recall, was a status Greg Schiano conferred on veteran coaches like Gary Brown and Randy Trivers), this leaves only one full-time staff hiring to go. Less clear is everyone's status. Will Phil Galiano coach the defensive line or secondary? Who will be the special teams coach? Will Flood name an designate a position coach as the official recruiting coordinator (Schiano never did to replace Joe Susan, even when it seemed like P.J. Fleck, Jeff Hafley, or Brian Angelichio would have been obvious candidates.) What about the graduate assistants - does Andrew Janocko stay? Do they still bring in Anthony Campanile from Don Bosco to replace Tem Lukabu?
What about recruiting territories? A few seem obvious.
Brock - coordinators rarely recruit
Smith - coordinators rarely recruit
Galiano - South Jersey
Dinkins - Western PA
Presumably one of Cohen or Spence will replace Flood in NYC/Long Island. Sirmans is from North Jersey, but his background is in recruiting Ohio. Do you throw Wrobo in East PA or Maryland because of his tenure at Delaware? Will anyone have ties to Florida?

FLORIDA
If we don’t have one good person recruiting florida… it is a big, big, big mistake. Scares me that we didn’t have any in last class…
