Quanzell Lambert to RU

Timber Creek HS middle linebacker Quanzell Lambert just announced his commitment to Rutgers. The four star talent is a major coup for Schiano and company, as Rutgers has not had the best success in the past with South Jersey's elite prospects. Most of us in RU land thought that we would have no shot with Lambert earlier in the recruiting process. But, we made huge strides the past few weeks after his official visits.

Side note: Scarlet Nation and Scarlet Report have been killing it lately on the live recruit reporting.

Impressive Offer List

As impressive as Huggins or Shuler last year. I love when you see both elite academic schools and SEC schools alike going after these kids. I hope we get some more beef in the Defensive Line to ensure he will stay as a Mike Backer.

Talk about a scholar/athlete!

This from the courier-post blog entry:

"It was the family and most importantly the practice schedule to where (engineering labs) won’t interfere with practice," Lambert said. "A lot of schools practice in the afternoon. During the time I’d need to be in a lab, there would be practice or film study. I’d lose a lot. Rutgers holds morning practices and labs are in the afternoon."

For free stuff

OntheBanks gives the best summaries and compilations of recruiting news. It’s hard to get deep recruiting info without a subscription site.

my thoughts

very good prospect, think there are 50/50 odds he ends up on the DL though.

Rutgers has done well at some South Jersey programs like Winslow, Willingboro, and St. Joe’s of Hammonton. They still need to crack a few like Holy Spirit and ESPECIALLY Timber Creek, which may be overtaking Winslow for the top talent program in South Jersey. More than anything, this is huge with what TC has next year. Who already hated Penn State before they were exposed for the filth that they are.

Timber Creek

I see Timber Creek as the Piscataway of South Jersey.
