Tom Savage's transfer waiver denied
That is from the man himself on Twitter.
This news capped off a difficult Sunday, as Old Tappan quarterback Devin Fuller, who had been thought to be favoring Rutgers before Greg Schiano's departure, shocked everyone by picking UCLA. Fuller, a sensational runner, was not an ideal fit for the Rutgers offense, but it always hurts to lose a top local guy.
Fuller represented a top prospect for down the road. Arguably, Savage's waiver to transfer back to Rutgers hurts more, as he would have made a difference in 2012. Erratic QB play held Rutgers back from winning a Big East championship in 2011. Youngsters Gary Nova and Chas Dodd have an entire offseason to work on getting better, but Savage could have stepped in from day one and seized the starting job.
This announcement presumably ends the chapter of the most heralded, hyped recruit in the history of the program. It's too bad, but this is the final consequence of Kirk Ciarrocca wrecking the offense. Now the program can finally move forward. Nova or Dodd will be the top options under center next year. Mike Bimonte will probably need another year or two to learn the offense, and incoming freshman Blake Rankin is a solid running threat.

Savage
I for one am ok with this. Let me fiirst say that I was a huge TS fan but I honestly feel that he would be more of a liability than a help. The guy quit the team plain and simple. Sure Ciarrocca’s offense blew but he was in the same offense the yr before and was fine. If he came back he would have been a yr behind in learning the new playbook, plus he wouldnt have played a game in over a yr. I’m ready to turn the page. Hopefully Nova can’t make that next jump.
I don't get the ruling on Savage
I know nothing about the rule, but it sounded like all signs were pointing to yes. Does anyone understand this decision?
I didn't think he would get it
the hardship waivers are usually if a parent has a medical illness.

What changed over the last 9 months? He signs a letter of intent last February to go to Arizona. And in December he decides he needs to come back for his family. Unless someone got terribly ill in his family over that 9 months they can’t approve it.

Cristobal
NJ .com is saying that Cristobal will be the next coach. Not crazy over the hire. Need to see who he will retain on staff.
I like Cristobal as the hire IF he keeps all the staff memebers
and that is a big IF. If he doesn’t and brings in his own staff, I will hate the hire. Flood, Cigs, and Haffley have to stay on the staff to have any chance at keeping this recruiting class together.

Travares Copleand, a 3 star 5.7 recruit from Florida was down to Rutgers, WVU, and FIU before Schiano left when he took RU off the list
I would imagine that we now have a very strong chance at landing his commitment.

I just talked to Chris Muller and when I asked him if he was going to sign his LOI on Wednesday
He said he does not know yet and Flood staying on the staff will be a huge factor in his decision. He said he wants to talk to Christobal and make sure Flood will still be on the staff.

3-star 5.6 Outside Linebacker Tashon Whitehurst
will decide between Syracuse, South Florida, and Rutgers on Wednesday. I would guess it is either SU or USF now that Schiano left but we will find out on Wednesday for sure.

There are now major conflicting reports that Cristobal has turned down RU
IF true, this could be a MAJOR blow to this team. How coudl teh FIU coach turn down Rutgers? TP better have somebody signed by tomorrow afternoon. This is getting ugly

It is confirmed
Cristobal will NOT be the next head coach of Rutgers. TP is turning to McNulty as the next option it looks like. This has the potential to get very UGLY and I think this will definitely affect the recruits. Also, Mario Cristoball is trending world wide on Twitter. Bad News

The reports out of NJ that FIU coach Mario Cristobal will be next coach at Rutgers are “NOT TRUE.” He is staying at FIU.

Mike Quick, the guy who will be there with Darius to announce his decision
said that Kyle Flood is going to be the new coach. Also, reports are that TP lowballed the hell out of MC with his contract offer.

How are there not more posts on this site to discuss this
This is a big day in Rutgers football. New head coach hired only after the FIU coach turned it down. Disappointed there wasnt more coverage here.

Unfortunately, most of us that blog here work during the day – it’s difficult to update in real time. But, I started a new minipost for discussions.
