RutgersFest yesterday...did not exactly go smoothly. In fact, the New Brunswick police are calling 2011 the worst in the history of the event. Rutgers has a reasonably safe campus, but these events bring in thousands of non-students with no affiliation with the university. On suggestion being debated on the message boards and elsewhere is to move the concert to Rutgers Stadium and limit admission to students and their guests. I'm... not sure whether it's a good thing that this is getting less attention than RUPA's debacle in bringing Snooki to campus. Last night's ruckus was far more substantive than a forgettable, frivolous event... yet highlighting last night could give the inaccurate impression that what happened was in any way representative. Just as the university was unfairly associated with Snooki after the news wires picked up and ran with that story. Either way, there need to be comprehensive changes coming to the way RUPA plans and books their events.
