The much-heralded Tom Savage era at Rutgers has ended with a whimper.

Savage committed to Arizona today, which was his only recruiting visit. The Wildcats were on Savage's initial limited release from Rutgers, making the drama from a few weeks back look entirely pointless in retrospect. The Arizona coaching staff says that Greg Schiano endorsed Savage.

Savage was victimized in 2010 by injuries, poor play calling, and an offensive line that struggled adapting to the spread offense. Arizona has a deeper quarterback depth chart than Rutgers, and runs the spread too. Looks like Savage was just determined to start fresh no matter what.
