Big East all-conference football teams as terrible as ever
Statistically, Rutgers had the best defense in the Big East in 2011. West Virginia was third in yardage, but seventh in points allowed. Naturally, West Virginia had three players named first-team all defense, while Rutgers only had two. If you think that's nuts, Syracuse actually had four first team all-Big East players, which was one more than WVU. So yeah, Rutgers got totally boned. Justin Francis should have been a candidate for defensive POY, never mind a lock for first team honors. Instead, he didn't even make the second team. Nor did Scott Vallone or Steve Beauharnais. Logan Ryan is the best pure cover corner in the league, but was relegated to the second team. Really, Trevardo Williams makes the second team because of a fluky game against Rutgers? Desmond Wynn also made second-team guard, which isn't too bad, but can anyone see Art Forst as being first team? What?
