Thanks Randy Edsall! The biggest misanthrope in coaching destroyed UConn football with his abrupt departure, and seems to have wrecked a similar amount of havoc on Maryland in his brief tenure in College Park. Terrapins are transferring by the boatload, with the survivors warning recruits not to venture on campus. Oh well! Their loss is Rutgers's gain, with the news today that rising senior right tackle R.J. Dill will transfer to Rutgers. RU was in the market for a JUCO lineman, and obviously any time you can add a player with multiple years of starting experience, that is a gigantic positive. If there is a downside to Dill, his big frame doesn't sound like the greatest fit in Kyle Flood's zone blocking scheme. It's hard to say without looking at some game film to see how Dill moves on his feet though. Dill isn't guaranteed a starting job, but it's safe to say that he should start somewhere on the line next year. Andre Civil (LT) and Kaleb Johnson (RT) return as starters, with Betim Bujari (center or guard) highly likely to start. Antwan Lowery has a lot of experience too at guard, but really fell down the depth chart after losing his job to Art Forst this year. David Osei has gotten looks everywhere but right tackle, and JUCO C Dallas Hendrikson will return from a season-ending injury. For an early guess at next year's starting OL, let's go with Civil-Bujari-Osei-Johnson-Dill (with Lowery and Hendrikson as top substitutes.) That certainly could be a decent line, even though it's still too early to say.
