Pinstripe Bowl a tough sell

Want to get a jump on ordering tickets for this year's Army/Notre Dame game at Yankee Stadium? An email sent out to season ticket holders last week indicated that anyone who wants to get on on the ticket pre-sale for that game will have to buy tickets to the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl and baseball tickets. Between outrageous ticket prices and a stadium that's a poor fit for football, it'll be a surprise if the Yankees can come anyway close to recouping their $2 million payout for the game. Not that I mind the opportunity to gouge Notre Dame fans bandwagoners and pick up their tickets later on the cheap (assuming RU ends up in the game), but widespread scalping won't do any favors for the athletic department's ticket sale numbers. That's another issue with this bowl. A host team like Rutgers is going to be expected to sell a huge number of tickets with the game in our backyard, but at current prices there's a huge incentive to eschew official channels.
