Fred Hill Sr. wins 1,000th game

+

Rutgers baseball moved into first place in the Big East on Saturday with a 6-1 win over South Florida. That's phenomenal, considering that the Scarlet Knights were picked near the bottom of preseason conference polls, and don't have much pitching to complement their awesome array of bats. The athletic department is in the midst of a protracted, painful dispute with Hill's son, basketball coach Fred Hill Jr. It's easy to lose sight of the fact that "Moose" Hill is a wonderful coach, who is highly respected around college baseball and the major leagues. Rutgers baseball would not be nearly as successful without him. Unfortunately, Moose's day of triumph was clouded by the ongoing speculation surrounding his son. Tom Luicci in his story mentioned that a resolution could be coming Monday, although no one would really be surprised by further delays.
