JONATHAN MITCHELL:
On being picked 15 th: "It’s more locker room material. We’ve got a big punching bag in our locker room now with all type of articles posted on it. I’m sure that (the ranking) will be on there by today’s practice when we get back. More fuel for the fire."
More articles and updates and articles here when they roll in.
UPDATE: Here's a short article from the Rutgers official website.
UPDATE 2: From NJ Newsroom: "New Rutgers coach Mike Rice was disappointed in Rutgers finishing 15th in the coaches’ poll. He wanted dead last. It’s not crazy talk either. Rice is going heavy on the underdog motto this year and wanted to be picked last so that he could use that as an opportunity to further instill it into his team’s head. Rice will still have his chance frequently enough. Except when the Scarlet Knights play DePaul."
UPDATE 2: From THE TRENTONIAN: "If you’re blinking, if you’re not ready to swing until the season ends, then it’s not the league for you," Rice said about coaching in the Big East. "Now, I’m not here claiming Rutgers is going to be successful tomorrow or the next day, but we will be successful. I understand the last three Rutgers coaches probably said the same thing, but if you don’t believe that, then don’t take the job."
