Buried in today's recruiting update was a blurb about new Syracuse HC Doug Marrone hiring Nassau CC coach John Anselmo to coach the Orange secondary. Well, I was just doing my daily roundup of just what exactly happened today in the sports world, and came across this item of interest.
Anselmo said he knows every virtually high school head coach on Long Island, in New York City and Northern New Jersey. He said he was headed into several high schools on Wednesday with plans of trying to talk some players that have committed to other Big East schools into coming to Syracuse.
It doesn't exactly take a brain surgeon to figure out that a few of those players will be Rutgers commits (along with UConn, BC, Penn State, Maryland, and Virginia, among others).
In a way, I kind of look forward to a going up a Syracuse that isn't a punching bag in a few years.
